Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a five-door electric crossover SUV produced by Hyundai since 2021.

Hyundai unveiled the production vehicle in February 2021 as the first model built on its dedicated Electric Global Modular Platform. The design drew on the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe concept, with sharp geometric lines, a clamshell hood, and pixel-style lights. Inside, the crossover has a flat floor and a sliding center console. Its 800-volt system lets a five-minute charge add 100 km (62 mi) of WLTP range, and a vehicle-to-load port can power outside devices with up to 3.6 kW. Assembly began at the Ulsan plant in South Korea; production later started in Indonesia and Singapore, and in October 2024 at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Bryan County, Georgia.

At the 2022 World Car Awards in New York, the Ioniq 5 won World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and World Car Design of the Year. Motoring journalists in Germany voted it German Car of the Year for 2022. In the United Kingdom, Auto Express named it Car of the Year in July 2021.

Buyers could choose a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. In 2023, Hyundai introduced the Ioniq 5 N, which produced 478 kW (650 hp) with its temporary boost mode. This version reached 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and had a limited top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).
