Lamborghini Aventador

The Lamborghini Aventador is a mid-engine sports car produced in Italy by Lamborghini from 2011 to 2022.

Filippo Perini designed the vehicle as a two-door coupe and two-door roadster with scissor doors and an all-wheel-drive system.

Public presentation took place at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2011 with the LP 700-4 variant. Power came from a 6.5-liter twelve-cylinder engine producing 515 kW (690 hp), allowing a sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph). A roadster edition arrived in 2013 featuring two removable carbon-fiber roof panels. The factory reached 5,000 completed vehicles by March 2016, matching the total volume of its predecessor in five years.

Aerodynamic updates guided the release of the Aventador S in 2016, adding four-wheel steering and revised front bodywork. Motorsport track testing led to the SVJ edition in 2018, which completed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6 minutes 44.97 seconds under driver Marco Mapelli. That high-downforce edition used active flaps in the front splitter and rear deck to direct airflow over the body. Lamborghini closed the production run with the Ultimae edition in 2021, assembling 350 coupes and 250 roadsters as the final naturally aspirated flagship.

Film audiences saw the automobile in the 2012 superhero production The Dark Knight Rises as Bruce Wayne drove a gray LP 700-4. In 2014, a modified version appeared as the character Lockdown in the action film Transformers: Age of Extinction. The Aventador received the Supercar of the Year prize from Top Gear magazine in 2011. Overall assembly at Sant'Agata Bolognese reached 11,465 units before the final car rolled off the line in September 2022. The plug-in hybrid Revuelto succeeded the model in 2023.
