Ford F-Series

The Ford F-Series is a line of light-duty and heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by Ford since 1948.

Ford introduced the original F-Series in 1948, replacing car-based utility haulers with a dedicated truck chassis in eight weight ratings, from the F-1 to the F-8. The second generation of 1953 renamed the range into the F-100, F-250, and F-350. Ford added the F-150 in 1975, during the sixth generation, and it replaced the F-100 as the main half-ton model by 1984. Through fourteen generations up to 2021, cab choices grew from two-door single cabs to the extended SuperCab and the four-door SuperCrew.

The F-Series became the best-selling truck in the United States in 1977 and the best-selling vehicle of any kind there in 1982. In 1999, Ford split the family: the F-150 stayed a personal and light commercial truck, while the heavier F-250 to F-550 models became the Super Duty range. In 2015, the thirteenth generation brought an aluminum alloy body over a high-strength steel frame to cut weight.

The electric F-150 Lightning went into production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, on April 26, 2022, and Ford announced the end of its production in December 2025. The F-150 Raptor R of 2023 used a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 522 kW (700 hp). Ford built the 40-millionth F-Series truck in January 2022 at the Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan.
